Structural Isomerism
How can the same molecular formula describe many completely different molecules? In this lesson, we’ll explore structural isomers (also called constitutional isomers) and learn how differences in atomic connectivity produce different molecular structures. We’ll then introduce degrees of unsaturation, a useful tool for determining how many rings and pi bonds must be present in a molecule from its molecular formula.
